Slipways and Landings

There are several slipways and public landings in Lymington for the launching and recovery of small boats and for landing and disembarking crew and passengers.

Slipways

Subject to payment in advance of the launching fee, the Bath Road slipway (postcode SO41 3SE) is open to members of the public to launch paddleboards, kayaks and small boats by hand or with the assistance of a vehicle.

Subject to the payment in advance of the launching fee the Town Quay slipway is open to members of the public to launch paddleboards, kayaks and small tenders. It is not suitable as a launch point for sailing dinghies or for vehicle assisted launches.

Please note the slipway will be closed for essential resurfacing works from 16^th November 2026 until 22^nd February 2027.

Important: Payment of the slipway launching fee must be made in advance or the published penalty fee will apply.

Slipway Charges

Public & Commercial Landings

There are public & commercial landings at Town Quay and the Harbour Masters’ Pontoon adjacent to the Bath Road car park. The Town Quay landing is ordinarily reserved for commercial users only.

Landings are intended for pick up/drop off only and are used regularly by a wide range of leisure and commercial users. Users may use the landing for up to 20 minutes free of charge, please vacate the berth as soon as possible to avoid inconveniencing other mariners. If you would like to moor for longer, please check visitor berth availability with harbour staff.

Boats must not be left unattended on the landings or within the yellow hatched designated area for emergency services on the Harbour Master Pontoon without prior permission.

All commercial users of the landing facilities must notify Lymington Harbour Commissioners in advance and pay the appropriate Harbour Dues and Charges. This applies to any vessel being used for commercial purposes including ferry operators, charter trips, river cruises etc. For established frequent users (such as ferry operations) operators can contact the Harbour Master to discuss alternative means of notification.
